Counterpath Press is an independent, nonprofit, literary publisher that supports communities of readers and artists who are interested in linguistic and visual interventions in contemporary global culture. As a press it is driven by a broadly conceived mission and it strives to encompass new conceptions of what compelling work can mean. It also strives to support writers and artists—including groups such as minorities and women—who are typically under-represented in mainstream outlets.

Our projects include a range of genres and disciplines and a variety of formats, including printed books and internet-based material. What unifies us as a press is an attempt to contribute to a living community, which is possible when a press and the readers and artists it supports engage in work that is incorporated outside of the boundaries of what we already know.

Counterpath Press is committed to publishing and supporting intellectually rigorous work of the highest quality, with the highest production values. It is committed to publishing poetry, fiction, drama, cross-genre work, literary and cultural theory and criticism, translations, reprints of out-of-print and hard-to-find titles, as well as supporting a repository of high-quality work through internet publication.

Support for Counterpath Press comes from the sale of its publications, grant funding from public and private sources, and from individual contributors.
